Class overview
Zephras Isle
Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle and play through a dedicated level 1–12 starting experience.
Two paths
Windshaper Skyborne join the Horde; High Order Skyborne join the Alliance.
Class choices
Both paths can be Druids, Hunters, Rogues and Warriors. Windshapers can also be Shamans; High Order can also be Mages.
Zephras Isle and the two Skyborne paths
Starting zone: Zephras Isle, levels 1–12. The Skyborne, also called the shen'dorei, descend from Highborne exiles whose civilisation became tied to elemental wind spirits in Skywall. Their starting story begins as those spirits disappear and the structures holding their island society together begin to fail.
Windshaper Skyborne (Horde): Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman and Warrior. High Order Skyborne (Alliance): Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue and Warrior. This means Druid, Hunter, Rogue and Warrior are shared choices, while Shaman is Horde-specific and Mage is Alliance-specific for Skyborne at launch.
The faction choice also changes class availability after Zephras Isle. In the 16 October beta update, the Skyborne Wind Blessed Haste bonus rose to 3% (from 1%), Skysight and Read Leyline became usable while moving, and Walk on Air's cooldown fell to 90 seconds. Blizzard also added more Elemental Convergence and Leyline spawn locations. These are final-beta values, not verified launch balance.
Last checked 22 October 2026. Skyborne race/class options remain confirmed; racial numerical values reflect Blizzard's 16 October beta notes and may change for launch.
Playing a Skyborne Rogue
Rogue is one of four classes shared by both Skyborne paths, alongside Druid, Hunter and Warrior. Choosing Windshaper therefore gives you a Horde Skyborne Rogue, while High Order creates an Alliance Skyborne Rogue.
The faction decision matters beyond class access because the two Skyborne branches have their own racial identity. For the Rogue-specific implications and future build updates, continue to our WoW Forever Rogue guide. The Races & Factions guide compares the complete confirmed class matrix.
Skyborne access requirements
According to Blizzard's announced edition requirements, access to the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle starting experience requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or another qualifying higher edition. The base WoW Forever experience is available with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. A subscription alone does not unlock the additional Skyborne entitlement.
Check the current edition contents before purchasing, as edition availability and inclusions may change.
Skyborne visual development: October update
Blizzard is revising some high-definition Skyborne Druid forms to better match the visual language of original-era Azeroth, including fur detail, softness and colour saturation. The published examples are development work, not a promise that every preview represents final launch artwork.
Blizzard also announced that standard-definition Skyborne player character models and SD Druid forms are in development for early 2027. This is a future visual option, not a feature to expect at the 4 November 2026 launch.
