SHAMAN · PRE-LAUNCH FIELD GUIDE

Playing a Shaman in Forever

A practical first-pass guide built from confirmed Forever information. Final talents, rotations, stat priorities and best-in-slot recommendations will be added after live verification.

CLASS IDENTITY

Shaman commune with the elements, using spells and totems while supporting allies or dealing damage. Forever preserves that elemental identity and broadens race access, making the class a strong choice for players who enjoy hybrid toolkits.

RACE OPTIONS

Confirmed Horde choices are Orc, Tauren, Troll and Windshaper Skyborne. Alliance gains Dwarf Shaman, one of Forever's headline new combinations. High Order Skyborne cannot choose Shaman.

WHO SHOULD PLAY IT?

Choose Shaman if you like elemental magic, utility and the option to contribute through damage or healing. Totems and a broad toolkit reward players who enjoy having situational answers rather than one repeated button sequence.

SKYBORNE

Windshaper Skyborne can become Shaman and begin on Zephras Isle from levels 1–12. Shaman is the Horde-aligned Skyborne's faction-specific class, reflecting its elemental tradition.

FOREVER SYSTEM TO WATCH

Forever's unified hit and critical stats are intended to help hybrids including Enhancement Shaman. This should make mixed physical and magical toolkits less awkward to gear, although exact priorities need live testing.

Preparing for 1–60

EARLY JOURNEY

Use the opening levels to learn core resources, survival tools and combat rhythm. Keep useful equipment current rather than following a pre-launch route built on assumptions.

LEVEL 25+

Forever's account-wide Legacy System normally unlocks when your first character reaches level 25. A Shaman main can establish that progression naturally without requiring an alt first.

RULESET

Forever asks you to choose a ruleset rather than a traditional realm. Pick the environment that matches how you actually want to level and play, especially if open PvP would materially change the journey.

LEVEL 60

At launch this section will expand into tested builds, gearing, PvE, PvP and activity-specific recommendations. Until then we separate confirmed systems from beta-dependent optimisation.

Official Shaman class deep dive: October 2026 beta

Blizzard's 7 October announcement updates totem handling, weapon imbues and all three Shaman talent specialisations. This is confirmed developer information but not final post-launch build advice.

Core abilities and levelling

Weapon imbues now last 60 minutes and persistent buff totems last five minutes. Totem tracking and Call spells reduce repeated setup. Totemic Recall arrives at level 20 and Totemic Projection at level 22, allowing better management and positioning. During levelling, these changes should reduce downtime and make totem use more practical during movement and questing.

Elemental Combat

Blizzard's 16 October beta build substantially rewrote Elemental: Elemental Mastery returned as the 31-point milestone; Lava Burst moved to 21 points; Earthbound moved to the 16-point milestone; and Call of Thunder was removed. These changes supersede the earlier class deep dive and must be used before drafting talent routes.

Enhancement

StormstrikeStormstrike remains Enhancement's 16-point milestone, with its mana cost set at 8% of base mana in the 16 October beta build. Raid-wide totem buffs now include Grace of Air, Strength of Earth, Windfury and Flametongue; Grace of Air can coexist with Windfury or Flametongue, but Windfury and Flametongue remain mutually exclusive.

Restoration

Restoration has Water Shield, Riptide, and Mana Tide Totem ranks at levels 25, 38, 48 and 58. The 16 October beta update also lets Water Shield trigger from any Shaman critical spell cast, not only critical heals. Exact healing builds remain subject to live verification.Water Shield and Riptide, supporting healing and mana management. Group-healing recommendations will need encounter testing before a definitive talent route can be published.

Talent milestones

Talents begin at level 10, with milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. These are talent-point thresholds, not character levels. For race availability, including Dwarf and Windshaper Skyborne Shamans, see Races & Factions.

ACCURACY POLICY

No invented best-in-slot lists.

Confirmed information can be documented before launch. Tuning-dependent rankings and recommendations will be labelled until they can be checked against the live game.
