PvP ruleset
Forever includes a dedicated PvP ruleset for open-world faction conflict, and characters there are locked to one faction. Blizzard says Battlegrounds can include players from different rulesets, except Hardcore, which remains separate.
Class builds
Each class hub will carry its own PvP build section. Talent and balance recommendations remain beta-sensitive until tuning settles.
Gear & battlegrounds
Blizzard has announced a new 15-vs-15 Battleground in the Darkspear Islands, combining strategic control points with Arathi Basin-style flag capture and defence. Exact gearing routes, rewards and class matchups will be added only as beta and live data confirm them.
PvP provides 12 launch Legacy Points.
Legacy rewards PvP progression through rank milestones, Battleground reputations and Field of Honor Season’s Journey milestones. The Resourcefulness tree also includes For Great Honor for increased Honor gains, while High Alert improves stealth detection outside Battlegrounds.
VIEW LEGACY PVP CHALLENGES →Darkspear Islands and confirmed PvP progression
Darkspear Islands is a new 15 vs 15 battleground off Kalimdor. Blizzard describes it as combining strategic control points with Arathi Basin-style flag capture and defence.
The Legacy System confirms a broader PvP progression path: Legacy Points are awarded for reaching PvP ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14; reaching Exalted with each Battleground reputation; and completing the week 4, 7 and 10 quests in the Field of Honor PvP Season's Journey.
Battlegrounds may mix players from different non-Hardcore rulesets. Hardcore remains separate when it arrives after launch. Horde and Alliance cannot group together, and ordinary dungeon and raid grouping remains limited to characters within the same ruleset.

Honor, Rank Points and PvP equipment
Blizzard's 7 October PvP update describes two connected systems. Honor is earned through PvP and spent on rewards; Rank Points govern advancement through PvP ranks. PvP equipment includes blue-quality rewards and epic upgrades. An epic upgrade requires the matching blue item and an Emboldened Seal, with access to seals gated by rank. Rank 14 includes epic weapon rewards.
Seasonal PvP tasks provide further rewards, and selected objectives grant Legacy Points. Rank requirements matter when planning upgrades, so do not assume an epic item can be bought immediately just because you have enough Honor.
Darkspear Islands battleground rules
Darkspear Islands is a 15-versus-15 battleground for levels 30–60. Four strategic capture points generate progress. Teams can also carry the central flag to a point they control for additional scoring. The first faction to 2,000 points wins. The battleground has faction reputation rewards.
For broader equipment planning, see our Gear & Items guide. These details reflect the announced pre-launch rules; balance and rewards remain subject to live verification.
Complete PvP rank reward requirements
Honor buys rewards while Rank Points determine rank progression. Blizzard confirms a weekly rank cap. These are the announced minimum ranks for PvP rewards and epic upgrade tokens.
