Class overview
Hunter class deep dive confirmed
The official class deep dive confirms substantial build expansion. Beast Mastery gains Summon Hawk, Marksmanship gains Lone Wolf and Sniper Shot, and Survival receives new melee-focused support. Aimed Shot and Improved Eyes of the Beast move to baseline functionality. Talent trees begin at level 10 with milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Beta tuning may still change.
HUNTER · PRE-LAUNCH FIELD GUIDEPlaying a Hunter in Forever
A practical first-pass guide built from confirmed Forever information. Final talents, rotations, stat priorities and best-in-slot recommendations will be added after live verification.
CLASS IDENTITY
Hunters are ranged damage dealers, trackers and animal tamers. Forever keeps that wilderness identity central, making the class attractive to players who want ranged combat, pets and strong independence while exploring.
RACE OPTIONS
Confirmed Horde options are Orc, Tauren, Troll and Windshaper Skyborne. Alliance options are Dwarf, Human, Night Elf and High Order Skyborne. Human Hunter is one of Forever's newly added combinations.
WHO SHOULD PLAY IT?
Choose Hunter if you want ranged damage with a companion and a class fantasy built around exploration. Pet management adds another system to learn, but also gives solo players a useful partner.
SKYBORNE
Both Skyborne factions can become Hunters and begin on Zephras Isle from levels 1–12, so Hunter is one of the classes able to experience the new starting story on either faction.
FOREVER SYSTEM TO WATCHForever's stat redesign combines ranged, melee and spell hit and critical chance. Blizzard specifically notes Hunters among classes that can benefit from the unified stats when improving tools such as traps.
Preparing for 1–60
EARLY JOURNEY
Use the opening levels to learn the class's core resource flow, survival tools and combat rhythm. Keep useful equipment current rather than following a pre-launch speed route built on assumptions.
LEVEL 25+
Forever's account-wide Legacy System normally unlocks when your first character reaches level 25. A Hunter main can establish that progression naturally without requiring an alt first.
RULESET
Forever asks you to choose a ruleset rather than a traditional realm. Pick the environment that matches how you actually want to level and play, particularly if open PvP would materially change your experience.
LEVEL 60
At launch this section will expand into tested builds, gearing, PvE, PvP and activity-specific recommendations. Until then we are separating confirmed systems from beta-dependent optimisation.
Progression milestones
PHASE · PRIORITY · STATUS
- Early: Core abilities, survival and equipment (Framework ready)
- Mid: Develop preferred playstyle and group role (Launch verification)
- 25+: Legacy progression (System confirmed)
- 60: Builds, gear, PvE and PvP optimisation (Full guide after launch)
Forever class deep dive: confirmed 30 September
Talent framework: talents begin at level 10, retain the familiar tree structure and add a new 16-point milestone alongside the 11, 21 and 31-point milestones. Talent changes require a class trainer, and Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.
Baseline Hunter changes
Aimed Shot is baseline at level 20. Arcane Shot no longer shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot, while Multi-Shot does. Traps can now be used during combat, with a 30-second cooldown, and Frost and Fire trap families use separate cooldowns. Disengage has doubled threat reduction, Aspect of the Beast also grants melee Attack Power, and Scorpid Sting now reduces hit chance by 2%.
Pets matter more
Hunter pets scale from the Hunter's gear rather than receiving player stat buffs. Every pet family can learn Bite or Claw and Dash or Dive, while each family has its own defining ability. Foxes are a new pet family with Trickster's Dance. This makes pet-family choice more meaningful than simply chasing a preferred model.
Build directions to watch
Beast Mastery gains tools including Focused Fire and the 16-point Summon Hawk milestone. Marksmanship gains Lone Wolf at 11 points, Trueshot Aura at 21 and Sniper Shot at 31, creating a genuine no-pet ranged route. Survival receives stronger melee/trap support, with Counterattack at 16 points, Strider Kick at 21 and Lacerating Strikes at 31. These are confirmed beta designs, not yet final launch builds.
Reviewed 22 October 2026. The class overview follows Blizzard's published Forever class deep dives; the 16 October beta changes are noted in the Talents & Builds section above and take precedence over older beta layouts. Performance rankings and BiS remain provisional until launch testing. Blizzard states that abilities and talents may continue to change during beta, so final levelling builds, rotations and BiS recommendations will be refreshed again close to launch.
ACCURACY POLICY
No invented best-in-slot lists.
Confirmed information can be documented before launch. Tuning-dependent rankings and recommendations will be labelled until they can be checked against the live game.

Forever changes
Human Hunter is one of Forever's new race/class combinations. Skyborne Hunters are available to both factions.
Forever keeps strong class identity while updating abilities, talents and gearing. Exact talent rankings, rotations and BiS recommendations remain beta-sensitive and will be dated when added.
BETA UPDATE · 30 SEPTEMBER 2026Confirmed Hunter class changes
Blizzard's Hunter deep dive confirms Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival remain the three talent paths, centred on pets, ranged attacks, traps and melee options. Talents begin at level 10 with milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points, and Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.
The design goal is greater flexibility without losing the Hunter's original ranged-and-companion identity. Some original 1.12 talents remain, while others have been adjusted or improved as part of the Forever class revamp.
Beta warning: exact builds, rotations and rankings remain provisional while Blizzard continues tuning the class.
Levelling 1–60
Levelling 1–60
Hunter levelling coverage will focus on practical class milestones, ranged combat and the class toolkit as it develops from 1–60. Human Hunter and both Skyborne factions are part of the launch race options.
