First raid unlock
Blizzard's current roadmap says new raids unlock on 9 December 2026, giving players time to reach level 60 and prepare.
Built to expand
Blizzard's 20 October raid overview confirms three level-60 raids opening on 9 December 2026: Barrow Deeps (10 players, 8 bosses), Hyjal Summit (20 players, 13 bosses), and Onyxia's Lair (40 players). Barrow Deeps has entrances via Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold; Hyjal Summit is near Nordrassil; Onyxia's Lair is in Dustwallow Marsh.
Verified encounter guides
Onyxia's Lair requires every raider to carry a Drakefire Amulet obtained through an Alliance- or Horde-specific attunement chain. Blizzard has confirmed a three-phase Onyxia encounter and recommends preparation for fire damage. Full boss tactics, loot rankings and progression order still require reliable encounter data.
Raids provide 3 launch Legacy Points.
Three launch Legacy challenges come from raiding: defeating Onyxia, all 13 Hyjal Summit bosses and all 8 Barrow Deeps bosses. These points contribute to the same account-wide Legacy total and reward track as levelling, professions and PvP.
VIEW LEGACY RAID CHALLENGES →Confirmed raid programme
Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps are the two new raids Blizzard has named. Barrow Deeps is planned as a maximum-level 10-player challenge, while Hyjal Summit is a 20-player raid. Blizzard has also confirmed new tier sets and a legendary reward connected to this raid programme.
Raid unlock: Blizzard's published roadmap says new raids unlock on 9 December 2026, after the 4 November launch. Legacy progression identifies 13 bosses in Hyjal Summit and 8 bosses in Barrow Deeps, alongside Onyxia as the three raid Legacy Challenges.
Encounter strategies, loot tables and the identity of the teased legendary will stay off this guide until reliable details are published. There is little value in inventing a boss mechanic and then confidently helping people die to it.

Three raids are confirmed for 9 December 2026: Barrow Deeps (10-player, 8 bosses), Hyjal Summit (20-player, 13 bosses) and Onyxia's Lair (40-player). The newly published raid overview also confirms their locations and the Onyxia attunement requirement.Barrow Deeps, planned as a 10-player challenge, and Hyjal Summit, built around 20-player raid encounters. Blizzard's published roadmap places the new raid unlock on 9 December 2026.
Blizzard has published Onyxia's faction-specific Drakefire Amulet attunement chains. Alliance begins with Dragonkin Menace in the Burning Steppes; Horde begins with Blood and Thunder in the Badlands. Both routes eventually involve Upper Blackrock Spire and General Drakkisath. The amulet must be in each raider's inventory but need not be equipped. Do not assume the three raids have a mandatory progression order.
Preparation can now begin for three distinct raid sizes: 10 players for Barrow Deeps, 20 for Hyjal Summit, and 40 for Onyxia's Lair. All are scheduled for 9 December. Boss strategies beyond Blizzard's confirmed information will be added after launch validation.Barrow Deeps is 10-player; Hyjal Summit is 20-player; the new raids unlock 9 December.
