Kodia the Ferocious Bear V Rising boss guide artwork

Kodia the Ferocious Bear is part of the Risen Ancients V Rising 1.1 boss-guide progression. This guide covers where to find the encounter, the attacks that matter, a practical Normal strategy, Brutal Mode considerations and the progression rewards.

Location and preparation

Verified 1.1 level: 35

Finding Kodia

Kodia resides inside the Bear Cave on the eastern border of Farbane Woods.

Use the V Blood interface to track her, then approach the cave entrance.

Unlike roaming encounters, Kodia remains inside a contained arena. This makes her easier to locate but means you must manage the available space carefully.

Preparing the arena

The cave provides room to circle Kodia, but the entrance is a poor place to remain during combat.

Avoid backing yourself into narrow terrain.

Start near the central area, identify open movement routes and ensure your defensive abilities are ready before engaging.

Attacks and abilities

Key attacks

Smash: Kodia's standard heavy melee attack.

Crush: the bear slams the ground and causes rocks to fall from the cave ceiling in repeated waves.

Rage: Kodia roars, glows red and becomes faster for the next three attacks.

Charge: from roughly half health, a brief pause can precede a committed charge.

How to beat Kodia the Ferocious Bear

Do not overcommit during Rage. Create space, let the accelerated sequence finish and punish afterwards. During Crush, keep moving while watching the falling-rock indicators rather than staring only at the boss.

Brutal Mode strategy

Brutal difficulty

The verified core moveset remains Smash, Crush, Rage and the later Charge. Reliable current sources do not establish an additional 1.1 Brutal-only move strongly enough to state one as fact, so the Brutal plan focuses on shorter punish windows and preserving movement during Rage and falling-rock sequences.

Rewards and unlocks

What does Bear Form actually do?

Bear Form transforms your vampire into a powerful bear with a different set of abilities.

It provides increased resistances, reduced incoming damage and improved health regeneration. It can also break certain large resource deposits and reinforced environmental obstacles.

Its main abilities include Smash and Crush, replacing your ordinary weapon skills while transformed.

Using Bear Form to enter the Bandit Stronghold

One of Bear Form's most useful early applications is breaking the reinforced entrance to the Bandit Stronghold.

This provides an alternative to crafting and using the Minor Explosive Box unlocked through Clive.

That means players have two practical progression routes:

Route A: Clive and explosives

Defeat Clive, construct the Alchemy Table and craft a Minor Explosive Box using the required materials.

Route B: Kodia and Bear Form

Defeat Kodia, unlock Bear Form and use its powerful environmental attack to break the stronghold's reinforced entrance.

Both routes lead towards Quincy the Bandit King. Bear Form also remains useful after this encounter for breaking suitable resource deposits and environmental barriers.
