Keely the Frost Archer V Rising boss artwork

Keely the Frost Archer is part of the Risen Ancients V Rising 1.1 boss-guide progression. This guide covers where to find the encounter, the attacks that matter, a practical Normal strategy, Brutal Mode considerations and the progression rewards.

Location and preparation

Verified 1.1 level: 20

Preparing the battlefield

The camp itself is arguably the encounter's most irritating feature. Bandits, animals and Keely's ranged attacks can overlap, turning a manageable duel into a rather unfair group activity.

Before engaging her:

Community strategies also mention using the camp's central well as cover against her arrows.

Attacks and abilities

Every major attack explained

Triple Frost Arrow

Keely aims before firing three arrows in a spread. A hit applies Chill, leaving you vulnerable to being frozen by another Frost attack.

Counter: Circle around her during the aiming animation. Don't repeatedly retreat in a straight line.

Frost Volley / Arrow Rain

Keely calls out before firing arrows into the air. Marked areas indicate where the projectiles will land.

Counter: Stop attacking, identify the safe ground and move out of the marked areas. Avoid using your movement ability unnecessarily before the volley.

Vanish

Keely temporarily disappears and relocates.

Counter: Don't blindly chase her last position. Re-establish visual contact and prepare for another ranged attack.

Chill and Freeze

Consecutive Frost hits can freeze you, removing your ability to evade the next attack.

Counter: Once chilled, prioritise avoiding further damage rather than squeezing in another weapon combination.

How to beat Keely the Frost Archer

Step-by-step fight walkthrough

Opening: Approach Keely after clearing nearby enemies. Begin at close-to-medium range and move around her rather than directly towards her bow.

First arrow attack: Wait for her to commit to aiming, circle sideways and attack during her recovery. Don't extend the attack sequence if she begins preparing another ability.

When she vanishes: Reposition towards clear ground. Avoid charging after her immediately, especially on Brutal difficulty.

During arrow rain: Stop dealing damage and concentrate on the ground indicators. Resume attacking only when the volley finishes.

When chilled: Disengage temporarily. A second Frost hit can freeze you, and taking that risk for one additional attack is rarely worthwhile.

Finishing the fight: Continue the same rhythm rather than becoming aggressive simply because her health is low.

Brutal Mode strategy

Brutal difficulty

On Brutal, Keely's basic Frost spread expands from three arrows to five, making mid-range sidestepping much less forgiving. Her vanish is also a poor moment to chase blindly; re-establish her position before committing.

Stay close enough that the spread has not widened excessively, circle rather than retreating in a straight line, and preserve your movement skill for a bad Frost pattern or overlapping camp pressure. The central well can also break line of sight and block arrows.

Rewards and unlocks

Rewards and why they matter

Keely's unlocks

Reward | Purpose

Tier 1 Frost Spell Point | Develop your Frost spell selection

Tannery | Refine animal hides

Leather | Essential early crafting material

Traveller's Wrap | Early cloak option

Empty Waterskin | Crafting and consumable progression

After defeating Keely, return to your castle and construct the Tannery. Start converting your accumulated animal hides into Leather, then use the newly available crafting options to advance your equipment.

The Tannery is the real progression milestone here. Keely is effectively guarding your next round of crafting upgrades, which is rather inconsiderate of her.
