V Rising 1.1 boss guide for Frostmaw the Mountain Terror, covering location, key attacks, Normal and Brutal Mode strategy, rewards and progression.

Frostmaw the Mountain Terror is part of the Risen Ancients V Rising 1.1 boss-guide progression. This guide covers where to find the encounter, its important attacks, practical Normal and Brutal Mode tactics, and the rewards that advance your character.
V Rising 1.1 level: 53. Frostmaw patrols the roads through the Hallowed Mountains. Track his V Blood rather than looking for a fixed arena. Choose an open stretch of road with enough room to retreat and avoid fighting in direct sunlight.
Preparation: Bring repaired gear, healing supplies, ranged attacks and a reliable defensive spell. Watch for cliffs and narrow corners that can trap you during a freeze effect. Large rocks can help you reposition, but do not assume every ice attack is blocked by terrain.
Leap and claw combinations: Frostmaw closes distance quickly and follows with wide melee swipes. Keep moving across his flank and avoid standing in front of him after a first hit.
Ice lances: A spread of icy projectiles applies Chill. Move laterally and leave enough room to avoid follow-up attacks.
Ice Nova: A frost burst erupts around him. Disengage when he prepares the slam.
Blizzard and ice spikes: As his health falls, visibility deteriorates and ground hazards become harder to read. Prioritise survival over uninterrupted damage.
Frigid Beam: A sweeping frost beam can freeze you and is dangerous even around some obstacles. Watch the wind-up and move out of its sweep.
1. Pick the battlefield. Follow Frostmaw into a clear area of the Hallowed Mountains. Fighting at night avoids the additional problem of sunlight.
2. Maintain medium range. Use a bow or ranged spells between his attacks. Short damage windows are safer than remaining in melee range through his claw combinations.
3. React to ice lances. Move sideways rather than backing straight away. Save your Veil or defensive spell for overlapping hazards.
4. Handle the second half carefully. When blizzard effects reduce visibility, slow your attack rhythm. Look for ice-spike indicators and the beam wind-up before committing to long casts.
5. Finish without rushing. A final frost hit can freeze you long enough for a lethal follow-up. Keep a recovery option ready even when Frostmaw is nearly defeated.
Frostmaw's frost attacks are less forgiving on Brutal. The faster Ice Nova and increased chance of Freeze from attacks make defensive timing especially important. Keep enough distance to see his telegraphs and do not spend every movement skill on damage.
During the blizzard, move deliberately instead of sprinting blindly into an ice spike. A shield or counter can provide an extra defensive layer, but it does not replace positioning. If the fight becomes cramped against a cliff, disengage toward open road before attacking again.
Specific damage values and patch-dependent Brutal modifiers should be checked against the current in-game encounter.
The Claws and Elixir of the Beast are important 1.1 additions. Older Frostmaw guides may omit them.
