Christina the Sun Priestess V Rising boss guide artwork

Christina the Sun Priestess is part of the Risen Ancients V Rising 1.1 boss-guide progression. This guide covers where to find the encounter, the attacks that matter, a practical Normal strategy, Brutal Mode considerations and the progression rewards.

Location and preparation

Verified 1.1 level: 44

Finding Christina

Christina travels between the churches of Dawnbreak Village and Mosswick Village, mainly using the southern roads of Dunley Farmlands.

She is accompanied by two Militia Guards.

Choosing a battlefield

Avoid attacking her inside a heavily populated village.

Instead, use V Blood tracking to locate her patrol and look for a quieter stretch of road or nearby open ground.

Christina can encounter other roaming V Blood carriers, including Vincent the Frostbringer and Jade the Vampire Hunter. Their involvement can turn a controlled fight into a considerably more complicated one.

A large rock can provide useful cover against her ranged attacks. You can circle it to break line of sight while waiting for a safe opportunity to attack.

Attacks and abilities

Complete attack breakdown

Staff Swipe

Christina swings her staff in a medium arc when an enemy approaches melee range.

Counter: Move towards her flank or maintain distance.

Holy Rays

Christina aims her staff before firing five fast-moving Holy projectiles in a fan.

Counter: Move sideways or use a suitable defensive barrier. At greater distances, the gaps between projectiles become easier to navigate.

Holy Wrath

Christina summons a Holy beacon beneath the player's position. The area slows movement before exploding after a short delay.

Counter: Leave the marked area immediately. Avoid using a lengthy attack while standing inside the indicator.

Shining Blessings

Christina raises her staff and begins slowly healing herself. She remains stationary and cannot use other attacks while channeling.

Counter: Interrupt her with a stun, such as Iron Axes' X-Strike.

Conviction Counter

Christina surrounds herself with Holy light and counters incoming attacks. Players who trigger it are silenced for several seconds.

Counter: Stop attacking when the counter animation begins.

Summon Militia

Christina calls a Militia Crossbowman and Militia Guard to assist her.

Counter: Eliminate the Crossbowman when practical, then clear the remaining enemy using area damage.

Brutal: Enhanced Holy Rays

Christina fires seven Holy projectiles rather than five.

Brutal: Healing Holy Wrath

Holy Wrath also heals Christina's allies when they stand within its explosion.

How to beat Christina the Sun Priestess

Complete Normal difficulty walkthrough

Opening: Remove the escorts

Begin by separating Christina from surrounding militia where possible.

Eliminate her two escorts before committing to sustained damage against her.

The Crossbowman is especially troublesome because ranged attacks can interrupt your positioning while Christina prepares Holy Wrath.

Establish ranged pressure

Once the escorts are gone, attack from medium range.

Avoid standing directly in front of Christina for extended periods, where Holy Rays becomes harder to dodge.

Use your crossbow or offensive spell during her recovery animations.

Holy Rays: Move through the spread

When Christina aims her staff, prepare for five projectiles.

At medium distance, move sideways into a gap rather than attempting to retreat directly backwards.

If you're already close and unable to escape the spread, use your defensive spell.

Holy Wrath: Leave the beacon

When a Holy beacon appears beneath you, immediately move outside its marked area.

The initial effect slows movement, making delayed reactions particularly dangerous.

Don't remain inside it to finish a weapon combination.

Shining Blessings: Interrupt the healing

This is the encounter's defining mechanic.

When Christina raises her staff and announces Shining Blessings, stop your normal attack rotation.

Use X-Strike or another available stun to interrupt her channel.

Healing interruption sequence

Keep your interrupt available while Christina is approaching a healing opportunity.

Watch for her staff-raising animation and voice cue.

Move into effective range.

Use X-Strike to interrupt the channel.

Resume damage while she recovers.

This prevents her from recovering substantial health and reduces the overall length of the encounter.

Conviction Counter: Don't trigger it

When Christina surrounds herself with Holy light, stop attacking.

Triggering the counter can silence you, removing access to spells when you may need them most.

Use the short pause to reposition or prepare for her next attack.

Reinforcements: Clear them efficiently

When Christina summons additional militia, prioritise the Crossbowman and use area damage where possible.

Don't allow several waves of reinforcements to accumulate.

Once the battlefield is manageable, return your attention to Christina.

Finishing the encounter

Maintain consistent damage and preserve your interrupt for further healing attempts.

The fight becomes significantly more manageable when Christina cannot repeatedly recover health.

Brutal Mode strategy

Brutal difficulty strategy

Seven Holy Rays and ally healing

Christina's documented Brutal changes increase Holy Rays from five to seven projectiles and allow Holy Wrath to heal allied units within its explosion.

Mechanic | Normal | Brutal

Holy Rays | Five projectiles | Seven projectiles

Holy Wrath | Damages and slows players | Also heals allies

Reinforcement management | Important | More important due to healing

Recommended positioning | Medium distance | Greater distance and obstacle cover

Brutal strategy adjustments

Prioritise the Crossbowman. Additional ranged pressure makes it harder to dodge the expanded Holy Rays attack.

Keep militia away from Holy Wrath. Her allies can recover health if caught in its explosion, extending the fight.

Use terrain deliberately. A large rock can interrupt her line of sight and provide space to recover between attacks.

Preserve your interrupt. Stopping Shining Blessings remains central to the encounter.

Avoid unnecessary summons. A large group of allied skeletons can make the battlefield harder to read when multiple Holy attacks overlap.

One secondary fan-made codex claims Christina's healing cannot be interrupted on Brutal, while the main boss reference describes her healing as interruptible without listing that exception. We should verify this specific interaction in-game before publishing a definitive Brutal instruction.

Rewards and unlocks

Rewards and crafting progression

Christina's rewards support textile production, inventory expansion and Illusion magic.

Christina's rewards

Reward | Purpose

Tier 2 Illusion Spell Point | Develop Illusion magic

Wool Thread | Textile crafting material

Silver Thread Bag | Inventory equipment

Ardent Candle Sconce | Castle decoration

Modest Candle Sconce | Castle decoration

Gothica Candle Sconce | Castle decoration

Verdant Candle Sconces | Castle decoration

What should you do after defeating Christina?

Return to your castle and inspect the newly unlocked Wool Thread recipe.

This expands the materials available through your existing textile production setup.

The Silver Thread Bag is also worth reviewing if your inventory capacity is becoming restrictive during resource-gathering expeditions.

Illusion spell progression

Christina's spell reward supports further development of the Illusion school.

The newer references differ slightly in how they display the associated spell choices, so our final article should use the actual spell interface rather than assuming every listed option is awarded automatically.

Important correction: Older reward lists

Some older guides claim Christina unlocks Purgatory, Glass, Empty Glass Bottles, Holy Resistance Potions and Blood Rose Potions.

Those lists reflect older progression systems and should not be used for the current article.
