THE EXPEDITION CYCLE

01

SCOUT

Use the glider to inspect the landscape, locate facilities and identify threats before committing on foot.

02

TARGET

Choose what the stop is for: resources, technology, survivors or another specific objective.

03

LOOT

Prioritise valuable materials and objectives rather than clearing every room simply because it exists.

04

RETURN

Watch the train's remaining energy and leave enough margin to get back aboard before the stop becomes terminal.

CORE PRINCIPLE

TIME IS STORED ENERGY

The train's battery drains while stationary, so exploration has a real cost. Patch 0.3.2 introduced Keyboard, Keyboard + Mouse and Mouse Only glider steering. Patch 0.3.3 adds persistent death markers on the map: use them to plan recovery expeditions, but assess threats, equipment and battery reserves before returning.

✓ The train must keep moving to recharge its battery
✓ Scout before committing to a stop

DETAILED GUIDE

PLANNING AN EXPEDITION

A useful expedition has four decisions: which facility is worth the stop, which reward is the priority, how you will get back to the train, and what will trigger retreat. Before exiting, check charge, health, food, cold protection, weapon condition and free carrying space. If the chosen location will not help solve a current resource or progression problem, keep moving and scout another.

SCOUT FROM THE AIR

Scout the facility and surrounding approach from the glider before going in on foot. Look for hazards, likely enemy positions and a route back to the train. Scan drones and Iso harvesting can make the flight productive by themselves. Patch 0.3.2 introduced Keyboard, Keyboard + Mouse and Mouse Only glider steering; choose a mode you can control reliably before flying near terrain or tunnels.

READ FACILITY INFORMATION

Read the facility map information for its listed resources, including Tech, then compare those rewards with the recipe or upgrade you are currently pursuing. A stop containing a needed component is often more valuable than a larger site offering generic loot. Make a deliberate choice rather than searching every facility on the route.

SET ONE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Pick one objective before departure: obtain a missing crafting material, recover technology, rescue a passenger or complete a specific exploration task. Collect that reward first, assess the battery and current threats, then decide whether optional rooms are worth the extra time. If the objective is achieved and the return margin is shrinking, leave with the gain secured.

EXPECT THREATS

Facilities can contain hostile robots, turrets, suicide spiders, anomalies and environmental hazards. Patch 0.3.2 increased suicide-spider encounters across facility types; patch 0.3.3 subsequently adjusted enemy health, damage and shields. Reassess threats before entering or returning to a death marker, and carry enough supplies for an unexpectedly difficult recovery.

WATCH THE RETURN WINDOW

Check battery on departure, after reaching the target and before opening optional routes. The train continues consuming energy while stationary and gives escalating low-power warnings, but those warnings are a last resort, not a timetable. Return early if you are injured, lost, overloaded, or facing a threat your equipment cannot handle. Allow extra time for the final approach and reboarding.

MULTIPLAYER

For a crew of up to four, assign one person to monitor train charge and departure, one to scout, and others to combat or carry the priority loot. Agree on a single return call before splitting up. Patch 0.3.2 improved recognition of client mission actions and made Glider Iso contributions count towards a shared objective; communicate what has been collected rather than duplicating risky work.

EXPANSION PASS II

GLIDER, SCANNING & CREW OPERATIONS

TUNNEL SAFETY

Check the space around glider launcher and catcher wagons before launching or returning, especially near tunnels and terrain. Previous patches improved tunnel detection, but a glider crash can kill the active character and consume a passenger from your reserve. Abort a scouting flight when the landing route is uncertain; the flight is not worth turning one resource stop into a rescue mission.

ISO CLOUDS

Iso clouds dissipate more slowly following patch 0.3.2, giving pilots more time to reach them. Use the glider to gather useful Iso while surveying the route, then return before positioning or environmental hazards become a problem. Higher-tier collectors can increase gathering speed, but plan your flight around safe collection and recovery rather than assuming the upgrade eliminates risk.

TARGET SCANNER DRONES

Scanner drones belong to the Glider Fabricator ecosystem. Tier II and III Target Scanner Drones received fixes in 0.3.1, while scan-drone tooltips were corrected in 0.3.2.

CREW ROLES

Co-op routine: identify the main loot or rescue goal, nominate a battery watcher, decide who carries supplies, and establish an immediate retreat call. If a player dies, check the persistent death marker introduced in 0.3.3 and reassess the recovery cost instead of rushing back. Confirm that all players are aboard before resuming the train's journey.
